Cooking with Home canned foods book review (Tomoson)
Posted on 02:55 by Unknown
I reviewed Cooking with Home canned foods, in exchange for review from Tomoson. The book was written by Rhiana Jones. The link contains my affiliate link.
The book discussed how to cook with canned foods. The book is not about cooking with canned goods, but food, people can themselves. My grandma used to can and jar her own vegetables. My daddy and niece love to pickle peppers from my mama garden. Instead of letting canned foods sit on the shelf, the book helps you get the cans off the shelves and incorporate them into cooking.
The book provides recipes, in addition to preservation and canning websites for your reference. Some of my favorite recipes was the desserts and salsas. I loved the chicken and salsa casserole and stuffed peppers. I also liked the black bean quesadillas. I love beans (pinto, black, navy, kidney, chili). I will have to try the quesadillas at some point in the future. The chicken taco soup sounds good as well. It is a slow cooker recipe, which means I don't have to slave over a hot stove and it fits into my healthier lifestyle.
For fruits and Veggie, I liked the Peach Horchata and Pumpkin Pancakes. I also liked the strawberry trifle and strawberry banana smoothie.
Each chapter focuses on one ingredient or canned/preserved item, such as corn, beans, mushrooms, and jams. The book was a quick read on the kindle. The book is .99 on Amazon and free to borrow on Kindle.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
